The "green" cache is attractive to property owners since there is a growing population of consumers that want to be part of the renewable energy revolution. Whether their reasons are financial, driven by a reduced carbon footprint, or purely philosophical, the demand is real and growing. This attribute is a becoming a consideration for a tenant when entering into a lease with a building owner and/or an employee when deciding which employer to join.
Statistics have shown that buildings using renewable energy have higher occupancy rates, reduced tenant turnover, can earn higher per square foot rental rates, and attract a wider market of tenants. These components translate into increased economic value to the property owner.
